If you're yearning for a genuine taste of Mexico in the heart of New Westminster, Las Shilas Mexican Street Food is the culinary gem you’ve been searching for. Located at 906 Quayside Dr, this vibrant spot specializes in delivering authentic Mexican flavors that ignite your taste buds and transport you to the lively streets of Mexico.
Las Shilas presents a delectable menu that perfectly captures the essence of Mexican street food. Delight in their signature offerings like the classic all-beef Jocho, which comes draped in rich flavors with options such as the Munchie Jocho — a feast of grilled pork belly, chistorra, and pineapple, wrapped snugly in a pillowy hot dog bun for just CA$15. It’s a lavish twist on a familiar favorite, bringing together savory elements that create a burst of flavor with each bite.
The drinks menu includes traditional sips that cool and refresh, such as the Horchata and Jamaica, both priced at CA$5.00. These beverages complement your meal beautifully, offering a sweet and spiced counterpoint to the bold flavors of the food.
The atmosphere at Las Shilas, however, seems to be a point of contention. While some customers have praised the authenticity of the flavors — Regina Sanchez raved about the lengua taco, describing it as the most authentic she's encountered in Vancouver — others, like Jesús Rivas, noted that improvements can be made in terms of ambiance and cleanliness.
Though you might have to adjust your expectations regarding the dining experience — as this establishment functions primarily as a pickup location rather than a dine-in restaurant — the quality of the food makes it worth the visit. Just remember to check ahead if you plan to stop by for a quick meal; customer Povi G highlighted the need for clear communication regarding their operational model.
Overall, Las Shilas Mexican Street Food offers an authentic, flavorful experience that excels in its key offerings, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone craving true Mexican fare in Vancouver. With a few tweaks in service and atmosphere, this flaring eatery could shine even brighter on the local food scene!

The burgers are delicious, and the hot dogs are decent. As for the tacos, the barriga is excellent, but the asada and costilla are underwhelming. The tortillas are disappointing—my costilla taco was completely cold. The ventilation needs improvement, as the entire place smells greasy. Overall, it’s a good start, but the food could be better, and the atmosphere has plenty of room for improvement.

If you’re looking for truly authentic Mexican food in Vancouver, this place is an absolute must-visit! I had the lengua taco, and let me tell you—it was hands down the most authentic, delicious, and high-quality lengua I’ve ever had in this city. From the rich, tender meat to the perfectly crafted tortilla, every bite transported me straight back to Mexico. The depth of flavor, the freshness of the ingredients, and the attention to quality were all impeccable. It’s rare to find a place that gets it this right. On top of that, I also tried their burger, and it was surprisingly incredible! Juicy, flavorful, and just as thoughtfully made as their tacos. Honestly, this is one of the best Mexican food experiences I’ve had in Vancouver. If you’re craving real, high-quality Mexican flavors, don’t think twice—just go!

This isnt a dine in location. But instead a remote kitchen in an industrial area that is for food pickups only (like uber eats, skip the dishes, etc). Did not know this until I arrived. Some food trucks around, so maybe they cater out of these during the day? The worker did not mention this when I arrived.
